of Schurz: There are few High Schools in America that can boast a real Pipe
Organ in their auditorium, and even fewer that have them still completely
intact! Older alums may well remember the Möller Pipe Organ used at concerts
and assemblies. It was installed in 1935 and first heard in public concert on
December 19,1935, just over seventy-five years ago! This treasure is in
critical need of attention.
The newly
formed Alumni Association has been in contact with the local chapter of the
Organ Historical Society, who is hosting their National Convention in and
around Chicago in 2012. This organization is extremely interested in helping us
re-build the “Grand Old Lady." The Organ Historical Society and the Schurz
Alumni Association would like to achieve this with your help.

Pay for the restoration of a pipe and the mechanism under it and your name will
be listed in a leather-bound volume of donors to the organ restoration project
and placed on the stage permanently for viewing!
I want to buy a RANK! Your
gift will be prominently displayed on a BRASS PLAQUE placed prominently on the
main wall of the auditorium.
I want to buy a CONSOLE!
Your gift will be prominently displayed on a SEPARATE BRASS PLAQUE placed on
the CENTER of the wall of the main auditorium.
I want to restore the organ and have it named in my honor! I love my school and its fine organ.
A RESTORED SCHURZ MOLLER ORGAN WOULD:
- Give Schurz students unique musical opportunities
- Allow this historical treasure to be enjoyed by future generations
- Create additional fundraising opportunities post restoration to benefit Schurz students in the form of school, alumni and community concerts
